GAME NAME: Call Of Duty: Black Ops 2

DEVELOPER(S): Treyarch

PUBLISHER(S): Activision

PLATFORM(S): Playstation 3, Xbxo360, PC & Wii U

GENRE(S): FPS, Action

RELEASE DATE(S): November 13th 2012

Earlier this year Activision officially confirmed that Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 had been in the making for over a year by developers at Treyarch & will be out this year on November 13th for Playstation 3, Xbox360, PC and Nintendo’s upcoming Wii U Console. Treyarch have also developed previous Call of Duty games such as; Call of Duty 3, Call of Duty: World at War & Call of Duty: Black Ops. Unlike previous games, Treyarch took a leap of faith in setting Black Ops 2 “into the near future” where in the past, their games have usually been set back in WW1 & WW2.

“Pushing the boundaries of what fans have come to expect from the record-setting entertainment franchise, Call of Duty®: Black Ops 2 propels players into a near future, 21st Century Cold War, where technology and weapons have converged to create a new generation of warfare.”

Setting:

Although the majority of Black Ops 2 will be set in the near future there will be moments in the games campaign that takes place in the 1980′s. During these moments we will revisit some familiar faces from the original Black Ops game such as Alex Mason & Frank Woods. (No, he didn’t die at the end of Black Ops) From the Black Ops 2 reveal trailer and gameplay demo’s from E3 we know that one mission will be set in Los Angeles and another in Singapore. Treyarch goes onto saying that it “propels players into a near future, 21st Century Cold War, where technology and weapons have converged to create a new generation of warfare.”

Black Ops 2 will not only take you fighting wars in America but also Beijing, Cayman Trench, Cuba, Hong Kong, Panama, Singapore, Shanghai, Yemen & in Angola & Afghanistan during the year 1986.

Black Ops 2 Campaign Gameplay – E3 2012 Demo:

Story/Plot:

It’s the year 2025 and worlds most precious and rarest resources are running low but are in high demand, the games story revolves around a modern cold war between the United States and China. Cyber terrorism will play a major role in the campaign as a terrorist organization manages to hack into the United States militry drone and weapons network causing mass havoc. In Black Ops 2 you take the role of Black Ops protagonist Alex Mason’s son David Mason.

Unlike previous Call of Duty games Black Ops 2 will play out somewhat differently, for the game will feature non-linear gameplay – branching story options and plenty of replayability and the introduction of the ‘Strike Force Mode.’ (see below for more info) A featured Black Ops 2 article in the July 2012 edition of Official Xbox Magazine said that Black Ops 2 will supposdly have multiple endings.

For Black Ops 2 Treyarch have hired David S. Goyer, co-writer of the recent ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ film and Trent Reznor an Academy Award-winning composer of The Social Network, in a hope to re-define storytelling in the Call of Duty franchise.

Game Modes:

Apart from the Zombie ‘Survival’ mode we’ve all come to love from past Call of Duty games, Black Ops 2 will feature three all new gameplay modes:

The bus and new Buildables gameplay elements help players move through and gain access to each area to find clues that reveal why they are there and what they must do to survive. All the while, public transportation is still operational, as a bus will regularly stop at each location. Zombies ride for free.”
  • Grief –  “Team up with your friends to challenge another group of up to 4 people in a Humans vs. Humans vs. Zombies scenario. Play on the various griefing mechanics to sidetrack the zombies or slowdown the opposing side. The team with last humans standing wins.”
  • Custom Zombies - “Fine-tune your Zombies experience and test your skills with Custom Games settings, ranging from selecting the Difficulty level and Starting Round (5, 10, 15 or 20) to Headshots Only and no Magic items modes.”

Characters:

Playable characters are unknown at this point.
